Home-Shopi uses industrial-grade diamond discs, the most effective material for restoring knives of any hardness to their ideal sharpness. The coarse diamond grinding wheel performs the first step by reshaping and resharpening dull blades, delivering a powerful and clean grinding result.
After the initial sharpening, the ceramic honing disc gives the cutting edge a fine, polished finish by removing the final burrs and smoothing the blade surface. With just a few simple forward-and-back strokes, you achieve a razor-sharp, professional-quality edge every time.

The Home-Shopi Sharpener is designed to work with a wide range of knives, including most kitchen knives, cleavers, smooth-edge hunting knives, and smooth-edge folding knives. Its precision system ensures fast, consistent sharpening across nearly all standard household and outdoor blades.
However, knives not suitable for the Home-Shopi include serrated bread knives and scissors, as these require a different sharpening technique.

Damascus steel knives are known for their exceptional hardness, which often raises concerns about how to sharpen such premium blades safely. The Home-Shopi Knife Sharpener uses a high-efficiency industrial diamond wheel, a material harder than Damascus steel itself—making it perfectly capable of sharpening even the toughest, most exquisite knives.
With fixed 15° and 20° precision angles, the Home-Shopi system ensures that only the cutting edge is sharpened, protecting the beauty and integrity of your valuable Damascus blade while restoring a razor-sharp edge.

Ceramic blades are non-magnetic, which means they cannot attach to the Home-Shopi magnetic knife holder. For this reason, the Home-Shopi Sharpener is not compatible with ceramic knives and cannot be used to sharpen ceramic blades.

Yes, it is possible. Many Japanese knives have a single-bevel (one-sided) edge, and with Home-Shopi sharpeners you can easily sharpen only one side of the blade. The Home-Shopi magnetic sharpening holder supports both 15° and 20° angles, making it ideal for traditional Japanese blades. You can sharpen the knife from both sides if needed, or focus on just one side to maintain the authentic single-bevel Japanese edge.

For taller knives—such as large Chinese chef’s knives—you can easily sharpen them by placing a cutting board underneath the Home-Shopi Rolling Sharpener. Elevating the sharpener raises the grinding disc to the correct height, allowing it to align perfectly with the knife’s cutting edge. This simple adjustment ensures smooth, effective sharpening for extra-tall blades.

A 20° sharpening angle creates a stronger, more durable edge, while a steeper 15° angle delivers higher precision but is less robust. Before changing the factory angle on your knives, consider the following: Western knives are typically made from softer steel designed for heavy, high-impact cutting. Because of this, they cannot hold a narrow 15° edge for long. If you convert a Western knife from 20° to 15°, it will become sharper but will also need more frequent resharpening.

The first step is to establish a consistent sharpening angle of either 15° or 20°. Most knives come with a factory edge somewhere within this range, but the angle is not always perfectly uniform. This initial sharpening process typically takes 2 to 6 minutes. For harder steels—such as Damascus blades—the first sharpening can take up to 10 minutes.
Once the correct angle has been set, future touch-ups are much faster. During the second and subsequent sharpenings, you only need a few forward-and-back strokes because the blade already follows the previously established angle.

Diamond is the hardest and most durable sharpening material available, making it ideal for high-quality kitchen knives. When the Home-Shopi sharpener is used correctly, the diamond grinding disc is extremely long-lasting and typically never needs to be replaced.

The 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞-𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐢 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫 is not designed for serrated knives. Using it on bread-knife serrations can grind down the teeth and may also damage the surface of the diamond sharpening disc. For this reason, serrated blades should not be sharpened with the Home-Shopi sharpener.
